Thinking if talking to my psychiatrist about this. Any experiences with it?

I have not tried Ambien, but it's always worth mentioning to your doctor if you're having trouble with sleep. I'm not a pharmacist/doctor, but a medicine I take that's a step before that class is hydroxyzine. Some psychiatrists use it to help with anxiety and my own GP uses it for my sleep issues. Regardless, it can help both (depending on your situation) and it's an antihistamine that isn't addictive. The only thing I've heard about Ambien is weird dreams, sleep walking, and trouble waking/grogginess. As always, your doctor is the best person to talk about this and I would think would want you getting the best sleep possible if you're struggling with anxiety, depression, or other mental health issues. Sleep is absolutely important for mental health...definitely way up there, so I do hope you get some advice medicinally or otherwise to help you! Have a great day.

You too. Does the hydroxine help? I'll look that up. Have you had issues sleeping?

It helps more for the sleep than anxiety in my usage. It comes in two manners....pamoate and HCl (just the manner as to how it binds). I've used both and find the pamoate has me feeling sleepier. Only downside is, like many antihistamines, my mouth dries out and you can wake with a temporary sore throat that goes away with some hydration.

yeah....the worst drug on the market and in my opinion the most dangerous. I woke up many mornings finding I had the stove left on , all the food out of the freezer on the counter, a pan left on the burner almost melted.....I even found my car with a dent in the bumper and vaguely remember getting take out food....and must have driven to get it....don't remember driving. This drug is handed out like M&M candy and it's a hypnotic, causes many of us to sleep walk in a haze and do actual physical things....not good.

Ok. What did you do instead? I'm on mertazapine but get about 6 hours of broken sleep.

I am prescribed a low dose of Zimovane.....but I would never recommend a medication here as we are all different and have different chemistry.

I know most of us here have all been looking for the 'holy grail' of sleep....we have busy brains and rumination is a curse many of us live with....I always have had a sleep problem.....and the early meds were either too addictive and left me in a stuper of drug hang over.....and was not conducive to my work ....so I suffered for a very long time till many many years later I found something that didn't make me feel groggy or hungover in the morning.

Ok. I'll talk to my psychiatrist about it. I'd still like to try ambien. Why not? We'll see what she says. Thanks!

that's your best bet.....I do know ambien us use as proscribed and you cannot over take the drug beyond that or can for sure have adverse effects.

Zimovane seems to be for short term use. Have you been on it long time?

it is short term use....but many women suffer sleep loss as one of the drawbacks of menopause....so they use it as a sleep aide as well.....

I took it. Bad side effects, sleepy next day and horrible when trying to get off. Also addicting. Wouldn't recommend at all.
