After having a bad reaction to Fluoxetine I moved onto Sertraline exactly one week ago, in this time I've felt a massive increase in energy and have been to the gym twice this week already (I never go to the gym) is this a normal reaction to a new drug?
(I took a week long break between medications).
Thanks

Well sertraline is my very first antidepressant and on the very first dose I too felt the effects right away. I felt as though I had drank 3 redbulls and took 5 shots of espresso. It’s an SSRI but afterwards that tapered down and now I just feel regular. I take it because my mood stabilizers where brings me too down I have bipolar depression and anxiety. So the doctor added that to bring me back up a tad bit.
I have to be aware though because at times it can fuel my mania more and I guess that’s what sertraline does it’s like an upper.
Just give it a few more days I started off at 50mg and now am at 100mgs but I do have days where even with my meds I do get depressed but not for too long of a period like before.
Btw I’m very petite and am sensitive to meds so when I told my doctor how fast I felt the effects and how they felt he was surprised.
