Reading your poem, then thinking of the Howe poem, it just struck me how universal loss is -- how there will be others who will read your deeply personal poem and find that same connection.
Even in grief, it comforts me to know we are bound together in this way. Thank you for sharing your words and your heart here.
I’ve been looking after my brother for years before and after he had been gone. I’m still waiting for him like I’m his mom because I was his big sis and now I have to prove I can make it without making the same kind of mistake that he made which hurt me tremendously and I want an opology you don’t do that to your family I’m so upset. I still haven’t healed.
I can't imagine the enormity of your pain; the persistence of such hurt is heartrending and I know no words can halt it. When we are in pain, sometimes all we can do is take hold of one another, until this wave passes; and when it returns, take hold again. There are many hands here for you, Starrlight: just take hold.

In the midnight hour when your soul is exhausted, you can find solace here/This is a place of peace and calm, things we all hold dear.....Love abounds in this world of support, like a large, safe harbor/And we stand by our friends day and night, with feelings both strong and sure.....The strength to move forward abounds in this place, we call a community/Look around and you can feel it, it's an us, not just a me.....So when the strength of one is not enough, keep reaching out/We will always be here for you my friend, of that there is no doubt!
