My husband doesn’t suffer with depression/anxiety so he doesn’t understand what I’m going through. It’s hard to explain to him. It’s hard to explain to those who don’t suffer with it.
Husband doesn’t understand my depress... - Anxiety and Depre...
Husband doesn’t understand my depression, anxiety.
Same for me. It has gotten better though. I have over time, been able to explain that it is not something I can control. I can just try and cope and that is when I need his support- not to fix it (men are programmed to believe they must FIX), but to listen, maybe give feedback if I ask for it, and provide an extra hug now and then.
Your absolutely right! My husband had no idea I was suffering for the 25 years I did. He never encountered anyone with depression before being married to me. When I got sick and he almost lost me a few year back he started to get a glimpse of how depression can creep in and cause you to just want to stop. He educated himself on it then and started to understand. So there is hope that your husband will get there and that depression can be overcome. I have been free from it for over 10 years now. Don’t stop your fight there is healing! Praying for you. -Rachel
