Hi there are a million things this could be with the least likely being MS. Even though you hear quite a lot about it it is still relatively rare. There is no reason you would have this so when you start to panic drag your mind to the present and turn your thoughts elsewhere. You could also talk to someone, read a book, wash up, go for a walk etc. x

Don't google! If you ask Dr Google you will go from a mild headache to dead in 3 clicks. According to Google I have every disease under the sun but according to my real life doctor it's a borderline underactive thyroid! I know who I believe :) x

Same realy some days better than others but i still get the symptons.what symptoms do you have

Cmoinjoco profile image
Cmoinjoco in reply to Amandasullivan12

It started with burning sensations in my head, then moved to cold sensations on my arm and back. Now I’m having pins and needles, numbness, burning in my hands, thighs, and feet. I can walk and feel my feet and hands but they just feel weird. My legs also feel weak. I’ve had a clean ct scan and my dr did “neurological” exam and watched how I walked and said it’s all anxiety. It’s really hard for me to wrap my head around that. I’m terrified every day that when I wake up I won’t be able to walk! It’s so scary and hard to deal with.

Yh its the same with me wierd feeling in my legs numbness in my feet and hands the doctor said it carpol tunnel and siatica im not convinced but im just trying to get on with it now for months i couldnt eat or sleep my meds have helped calm the anxiety down but not the symptoms thats how i know mines not anxiety

Cmoinjoco profile image
Cmoinjoco in reply to Amandasullivan12

I’m not on any meds, so I’m not sure about that. Does yours come and go? I experience it daily but it does come and go. I just started a stress b complex vitamin to see if that would help. My vitamin d was a little low and I have slipped discs. I’m seeing a chiropractor for that.. not sure if that would contribute to how my legs are feeling or not. I’m just constantly terrified and I know that can’t be good for my body

Amandasullivan12 profile image
Amandasullivan12 in reply to Cmoinjoco

Yh it comes and goes but happens daily im also so worried about it its realy scary

Cmoinjoco profile image
Cmoinjoco in reply to Amandasullivan12

I went to the doctor yesterday and they did some neurological screening and said I had no signs of weakness - but I feel so weak?! They ran some bloodwork and said it could be something as simple as being b12 deficient. I can’t stop thinking about it!

Cmoinjoco profile image

Hello Amanda, I too have had anxiety and finally got rid of it although on occasion it crops up. Knowing what it is and how it works on you can help you ignore it and so it goes away.

I assume you have been checked out for ms. If not, do so asap and that will eliminate one worry. Unfortunately something else will probably come along to trouble you because that's how anxiety works. Here is the key thing to remember.....symptoms from anxiety are not the same as symptoms from a real disease. I have had both. Real diseases and their symptoms are generally always with you and you can get progressively worse. Anxiety symptoms are usually just enough to scare you. Whichever you have you should see a Doctor and find out what is happening. It is important that you stay in control. You have to remind yourself constantly that anxiety is a liar and it cannot hurt you. Don't let it ruin your life. Pam

Hi sweetiepye just read your post to Amanda I read that you got rid of anxiety could you tell me how you did it.I have been diagnosed as having GAD and panic attack syndrome it is with me 24/7 I have been put on meds 5days ago so I have to wait. This bout is really taking its toll on me can’t get off couch today can’t eat, sleep, and crying non stop any advice please tried breathing technique and read Claire Weekes book but still feeling bad.

I was in my mid twenties the first time I had a panic attack. My heart was jumping around, I felt like I couldn't breath, and I was terrified. The anxiety kicked in when I became fearful it would happen again which of course it did. I was house bound for a long time and I had little kids at the time. I went to several Doctors who had no idea what it was. I'm 72 now so this was awhile ago. I finally was pointed to a psychoanalyst and the first thing she did was to put me on valium which calmed me down and let me exist without fear. Then I started therapy and started taking small steps so to speak. I would have successes and failures , but I didn't stop. When I finally started to trust myself again I was weaned off the valium and put on anti depressants. Why did this happen? I didn't feel in control of my life and I didn't feel safe. Once I learned I could take care of myself I had my life back. I will tell you it is hard to do, but you can do it. Take your time and be kind to yourself. It will get better, I promise you. Pam

Hi Amanda,

I just saw this and even though I know you'll get more info from your doctor tomorrow (and please update us on what doc says!) I wanted you to know that my son's mom has MS and lived a very good life, she was still able to be very involved in her kid's activities and everything else she wanted to do so don't lose hope!

Dearest Amandasullivan, I've often wondered what people get out of telling others

of worse case scenarios. (Someone they knew or a friend of a friend doom and gloom story) In one ear and out the other. This has nothing to do with you except to have put

you in a state of panic long before you even got to see your doctor. Good Luck to you

with your appointment tomorrow. Right now you have nothing to worry about. Live

in the present moment tonight. Please let us know how it went. We are behind you,

you are not alone. xx

Thank you she said she thinks its siatica and carpol tunnel but she saud my cholesteral is very very high so im gonna have to work on this as my mum died from heart desease at 39 im 38 soon so its realy important i try and turn this around any ideas on ways to do this would be appreciated x

Agora1 profile image
Agora1 in reply to Amandasullivan12

Hi Amanda, now you have a professional diagnosis. You do not have MS. That worry can go on the back burner. Please try to not replace it with your cholesterol

reading. Your doctor can tell you how to get your numbers down. As your doctor

thinks it's sciatica and carpal tunnel both of those can be addressed. I too have

carpal tunnel, which is not a life threatening issue.

I think the fact the your mother died from heart disease can raise your anxiety level

because of the cholesterol reading. I am truly sorry for your mother's passing, however it doesn't mean that you are doomed when you reach the age of 39. There are simple ways to address high cholesterol which your doctor needs to

monitor. Of course, there is medication but it can be reversed by weight loss, exercise, proper diet and yes, less stress.

You are in good hands with your doctor who knows your health history and will

manage your issues as he sees needed. It's going to be okay Amanda. You took

that first step forward today in seeing your doctor. :) xx

Hi Amanda, are your symptoms any better since your diagnosis?? I have the same sort of symptoms as you described. Forced myself to go to the gp this morning and he said that he isn't ay all worried (cue the little voice in my head saying 'but this gets missed all the time') he has referred me for blood tests and said that of nothing shows up then we can make a plan from there. He was brilliant actually but I'm still making myself feel sick with worrying.

Hi dove628 yes im still getting it some days worse than others im just trying to get on with it because for 4 months i was physically ill with worry but ive been taking medication for my anxiety which was only brought on by these physical symptoms i have but im dealing a little better with it now.what symptoms do you have mine is my foot going numb strange feelings in the bk of my legs n wierd tingling in my hands im still convinced i have ms or something just as serious but i try not to think about it untill im having realy bad symptoms then im right bk were i started x

Dove628 profile image
Dove628 in reply to Amandasullivan12

The same sort of thing really, just altered sensations. Tingling mainly in one foot but intermittently in other parts of my body too, patches of numbness all over. It's horrible. I swing between accepting that it's probably nothing and then back to 'but what if...'.

Im rxactly thr same its so scary it took over my life for months even now its always on my mind its realy hard ive got 3 children and work 2 jobs trying to cope with it all when my axiety was through the roof was hard i couldnt eat or sleep its awful the doc sent me for 6 sessions of cbt but it didnt help i kept telling them its these symptoms that are giving me anxiety the doc has given me mirtazipane which has realy helped with the eating and sleeping but i still have the thoughts i just try and think well if it is ms theres no cure and im not going to dye from it so what can i do.i had blood tests all was fine apart from my cholesterol which has now freaked me out as my mum died at 39 from heart desease and im 38 so like that could be me.im terrible i had to stop googling i was searching for hours some days and it made me worse.

Dove628 profile image
Dove628

You sound so much like me. I search compulsively thinking it will make me feel better but it only makes me feel worse in the long run. I feel almost totally normal when I am really occupied like at work which gives me some comfort as I figure if it was something serious it would be the same all the time and taking my mind off it wouldn't help.

Has your doc referred you to neurology?

Amandasullivan12 profile image

You guys are in a tough situation.

I had a motorcycle accident few years ago and my back was injured. I had tingling and numbing in my fingers and toes. Fortunately I recovered with time but I guess my problem was similar to yours.

So I agree with Dove628. You should try to see a neurologist to find out if your problem is nerve related or not.
