I think my minds broken!

I'm not sure whether is a panic attack or anxiety or what but it's doing my head in. I'm trying to find the root cause of this and think it might me down to my asthma inhalers symbicort. Anyhow I'm writing this as I just had a episode during my son's Perents meeting. It's starts by being tunnel visioned and fi d it hard to focus. Then I get light headed and my heart rate goes up and breathing becomes heavier. All I want to do is leave where I am and lay down. I was trying to focus so hard what I was saying and that I didnt want to look stupid either. This happens probably weekly or more. And I feel like passing out. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Your mind isn't broken as minds don't break in that sense unless you are severely mentally ill! I presume you aren't?

This seems to me to be a panic attack. It can happen to anyone and sometimes without reason. It might never happen again but if it does and is becoming a problem your best bet is to seek medical help. x

It sounds like a panic attack. I am sorry I don't know about the medication you mentioned but it is possible you are having a side effect of it. Talk to your doctor. If it is not that then you may also want to see psychiatrist to discuss anxiety medication. There are also lots of coping techniques you can utilize when this happens. One is called grounding. For example use your senses: smell, sight, touch. ie..physically touch something like the table, carry lavender with you and smell it. Focus on something in the room like a clock on the wall. Grounding is another technique. I am not good at explaining grounding though and it is taking me a lot of practice to do it correctly. You can try googling grounding techniques. I am so sorry you experienced this. You are not alone. I suffer from panic attacks, depression, anxiety and PTSD. I have a special needs daughter and her IEP meetings at the school cause me so much anxiety and panic. So much so we had to place her in a private school. Sending you a hug.

I just realized I gave you an example of grounding lol. Coffee has not kicked in yet. But there are other ways to do grounding is what I was getting at. I wear a necklace and when I start to panic or have a flashback from PTSD I hold onto my necklace tightly and try to bring my mind back to the present and focus.

Thanks for that. I will diffienatly try these. Currently I try to convince myself that it's just me and there's nothing wrong. Then I think what if something is wrong. I try to rationalize everything and try to figure out why it happens. Something iv eaten, drank, taken I look for any possibility.

That is good to do take into account things like you have eaten or drank. You never know. If it does not happen too often I would not be too concerned. It is good you are mindful of when it happens. Maybe even low blood sugar possibly if you had not eaten in a while.

Thanks. I'm wondering I was placed on a long term course of prednisolone for my asthma supposed to be 8 weeks. I managed 4 weeks and stoped it suddenly because it made my face look like a pepperoni pizza. I have been researching and panic attacks and anxiety seems to be a big issue surrounding it. Perhaps I shouldn't of just stopped the drug 🤦‍♂️

Hi Samson just seen you'd post. My daughter was prescribed several different inhalers over the past 8 months. All made her heart beat faster. Seretide had the worst effect on her she was always happy confident and outgoing. Now she is suffering from anxiety, panic attacks and muscle cramp and twitching. She o my told us after been on it for a bout 5 months that every time she took it she felt she was losing her mind. Hope this helps.
