Good that you realise that just change that might try mindset into can and will do that appointment and in a couple of weeks you can be feeling much better🙏

You knit? I used to knit but then my hand would get numb. I use a loom now. I knitted two snuggies that I still have that are so warm. I love to knit.

I tried to crochet. I made a few granny squares. I can’t seem to get a good tension when I crochet.

so important to find mindful activities and to create. It's helped me through two very difficult periods in my life. I withdraw too when highly anxious yet i'm also sociable and being to a choir. i don't try to make sense of it but go with it until it lifts. Highly recommend the honest guys on youtube for meditation and also for keeping your yarn tension correct.

I would love to knit a blanket, or whatever stitch is required to make a blanket, but I have no one to show me or get me started. Any ideas? And dolly, you’re isolating now which pushes you deeper into depression! Always keep your Psychiatrist appointments!! It’s so important to your well-being. Don’t stop taking your medication either as it can be a life-line. I’m wishing you the best!

They have books out that can teach you or you can go to tube, sometimes when I'm having a hard time with a stitch that's what I do! Good Luck! Have a beautiful day! Love, peace, light, joy & hugs!!!

Thanks so much anxiety! Is it possible to knit blankets? That’s my true desire! I love blankets and want to make one!

in reply to

I'm not sure about that but you could use soft yarn to make a soft afghan! Have a beautiful day! Love, peace, light, joy & hugs!!!

Sorry Saturday’s are busy for me. I normally reply faster. I learned to knit from a book called knitting for dummies. I love the dummies books. You can make a blanket with a straight knit stitch. Just to get your feet wet I would try a scarf. I use a loom now because my hand goes numb. I have posted two links for you to the looms I use. You could use a loom to make a blanket as well. They also have videos on how to use it. No excuses now! Get out there and knit. Winter is coming.

knittingboard.com/ Store where I buy my looms

blog.knittingboard.com/ Blog of project patterns and how to.

I highly recommend those looms. The ones sold in Michael’s I find the pegs spaced to far apart. They do sell the knittingboard looms at hobby lobby if you have one. They usually have a forty percent coupon in their flyer or print out online.

Hi Dolly,

I know how you feel. When my depression is at its worst, I stay in and away from others. Friends and family don’t always understand completely. Lately, I’ve been able to at least ask a few close friends for their company when I get anxious. Maybe try this - ask a friend to accompany you to your appointment, and even to push you to make it. The encouragement of others is so helpful to us!

in reply to Violetta11

I do hate to say this, but I disagree. It’s not up to your friends to see that you make an appointment, it’s up to you! You’re quite capable of making an appointment and getting there all by yourself. The concept is great, but friends will find this to be an unusual chore. When you get sick and tired of being sick and tired, you’ll make that appointment. I know I’m a harda**, but I mean well and am only interested in seeing you heal! Rely on yourself! You’ll receive a fantastic feeling of accomplishment!

No worries on disagreeing. I can say that this method has helped me and others I know. Certainly self-reliance is a goal. But at first using whatever positives in your life as necessary to just get you over that mountain, is so beneficial. I have found that friends are grateful that I asked for help, because they felt helpless as to knowing how to help. To just tell someone they can do it, I believe is insufficient. If it were enough to overcome the chemical effect leading to lack of motivation, then we would all be able to talk ourselves out of the depression. We need to be practical and effective, and most of all compassionate.

Mind over matter with the assistance of psych meds...I can see you’ve never tried it because it works. It’s as simple as it sounds, but difficult to achieve. It’s very practical and effective. Enabling each other isn’t helpful and can end up fueling feelings of helplessness and hopelessness. We “all” don’t recover using this method because most don’t want to put in the work required and many complain, but seem to be satisfied with their circumstances. It’s all about your state of mind, and the rest will follow...believe it or not.

It’s not a one size fits all. And I know we’re not authorities here. We’re all just trying to do our best and help each other. I appreciate everyone’s opinion.

It sad to hear that you are struggling through this dear .

But if you will continue to sit in front of your TV , you will be circled in the situation more. You should try to do self introspection and understand that a lot of people are struggling with much bigger problems than we people. All of us are fighting a battle of its own kind. Depression can be cured and there should not be any more delay from your side. There are people who want to be cured but their illnesses are so big that they can't get a cure. You are lucky one in that case. Don't linger on more for what you should do right now.

Stay blessed

Very good thought -- that many people have illnesses too big to cure, but that anxiety issues can be treated.
