I’ve been dealing with depression for almost forty years. Still going through the gamut with psychotherapy and drugs. I’m one of those who a drug will work for a while until it doesn’t. I’m becoming very weary...looking for a ray of hope.

welcome and glad your sharing.... it's a good place to be, and a lot of kind people...
I know how you feel-it seems like the meds help temporarily then fizzle out. I've been through a lot of them with the same results. You are doing the right things, so keep on keepin' on. Best of luck.
Thank you!
First let me tell you, that you are not alone. it is very common and even has a name tachyphylaxis. Now if you find yourself in crisis did you know there is a crisis text line 741741 and a professional will text you back right away? and of course the National Suicide Prevention Hotline 1-800-273-8255. I don't know if your there, but depression can put you in a bad place fast.
Getting back to tachyphylaxis I found an interesting article I have enclosed, I hope it clarifies some things for you. bit.ly/2E5gDq0
You will be in my prayers.
I'm glad it helped, thank you for the prayers as well. Iv'e found sometimes that when I get some ME time it's really time when my my mind tries to lie and deceive me. that's when I know I don't need ME time, I need KNEE time.
Iv'e also been reading a book called " Anxious For Nothing " by Max Lucado . one thing I learned in there that helps is this. You know how people count sheep to go to sleeep ? well one of the things mentioned in this book is counting your blessings, and when you look at all you blessings anxiety and I would imagine depression since they go hand in hand. they go for a hike. because you smile and feel happy.
Continued Prayers.
