Nervous

My mom has open heart surgery tomorrow morning. I almost lost her two months ago from a heart attack. Two months ago, I went to visit my mom and I noticed that she was breathing funny so I took her to the ER. She ended up having a heart attack and found out she was in congestive heart failure and put her on life support. Fast forward two months later, since then she has been home working on getting stronger for surgery and she is better but without the surgery the doctor says she won’t live longer than five months. So she need this heart surgery to live but I am scared she won’t make it through surgery. I have been having little bouts of panic attack thinking I won’t ever see her again and thinking about what I would do if I lose her. I know I should be focusing on her making it though but it’s so hard. Please keep my mom in your thoughts and prayers as she heads into surgery tmrw morning.

What a terrible time your going through ! I’m sure your mum will be just fine she sounds like a fighter . And don’t feel guilty for feeling anxious the body natural responds to difficult situations with anxiety ! Your not a robot don’t be so hard on yourself. My thoughts are with you and your mum she will be just fine have faith 😉

I’m so sorry your family is going through this period of critical health. I understand how important your Mom is to you. I will be praying for you and your Mom. I will also be praying for her surgeon! Try not to make yourself sick with worry...she’s in God’s hands now...

Open heart surgery has become quite safe. My husband, as well as several people I know have had it and been fine. I understand that it is very scary though. Usually the surgeon tells you what the percentage risk is. What did he tell you? The recovery, however can take a bid longer than doctors indicate.

I guess normal risk is 2% chance of passing

My moms is 4 % the heart surgeon said she is not high risk but I am just nervous I guess because I am always nervous

It is understandable that you are nervous. It is good that the surgery is tomorrow morning so you don't have to wait too long. Try to get a decent night's sleep because it will be a long day.

Yeah my stomach is all in knots and cramping. I know it’s my anxiety 😞

Also, try to remind yourself that she is likely to be much better after the surgery and after she has had some time to recover. These surgeries can make an almost miraculous difference, as I have seen with my husband and another person. Let us know how she does.

Will pray for you and your mom. What you are feeling and thinking is very normal. Everyone gets fearful when a loved one has surgery. Even when its not a serious surgery. Your mom is undergoing a serious operation. Just pray and know she is in Gods hands. Dear Lord, I lift up wallflower Mom to you. Please give her body strength to undergo this surgery with a good recovery. I ask that you guide the surgeons hands and everyone else who comes in contact with her. And if God forbid she is meant to go home to you I pray you give her daughter strength to deal and peace in her heart and mind. I thank you Lord for all the prayers that are coming forth. Trust she's in great hands... try to distract yourself if you can... know it's hard... maybe get out ... get her her favorite flowers, make a tasty treat she loves for when she comes home... listen to some calm music, remember the breathing excerises.
