So I have to take Bisacodyl (Dulcolax) for prepping for colonoscopy. And I got online and read people’s horror stories about it. Now (since I already took it) I am freaking out. Anyone got advice? Anyone ever use it?

Scared to death about colonoscopy prep!!
Common practice here before a colonoscopy. You need to be certain your colon is ABSOLUTELY EMPTY or the colonoscopy won't be productive and you'll need to go through the whole prep again before another try.
Not pretty, but the closer to just water passing out of you, the better the "view" for the doctor. Adulthood isn't al fun, is it? Make jello that is not red or violet in color so you have something to eat before you're completely cut off of any food in your prep process.
My big fear is puking from prepping.
Why? That's not likely and so what if you do...just stay near your bathroom....you are definitely going to need it for what comes out the other end.
I have Emetophobia (fear of vomiting). That's why it's a worry.
I know......so that's the reason I said it was unlikely, and no big deal if you do, as you sound like you feel you have no control of it. As Paul McCarthy sang "Let it be". You'll will have just gotten through a fear of yours.
I have a FEAR of pit bull dogs and next door neighbor has one, but it's unlikely it will ever be in my backyard. And if it does, well, it does and will eventually go home .I try to "Let it be" instead of worrying about it. Wish you try it, ok?
You received 9 good replies from your previous posts. Can you pull up "Let it be"and listen to it, really listen to the words? May help. It was written by the Beatles after Paul, during a very difficult time, had a dream where his deceased Mom was encouraging him by using those words.
Man I wish I had that mentality. That would be hard.
I am betting you do have that mentality but just haven't tried it yet.
It's what comes out of the other end. I like what Hear You said about Adulthood. Oh, those golden years can be a little tarnished.
Yes, it is very common and usual. Good for you taking these precautions for wellness.
Hi Dustin,
Please don’t panic. It is something that everyone hates. Yes the prepping is the worst part of the test. And yes the mixture is a lot to drink. You said you already took it. As for the test, I hope they put you out. When you wake up, it will be all over. Is this your first time? I have had this test many times and after each time said never again, then my mind goes crazy and I do it. We need to takes care of ourselves and there are many things that we would prefer not to do. These uncomfortable things are better than the alternative.
Good luck
And yes, it’s first time.
Good Morning my friend We will be following you along today.
You're never alone Breathe
I have to start at 3. I only got 2 hours of sleep last night worrying. I am trying to nap beforehand, but it’s not working. And I am dizzy already. -sigh-
All understandable Dustin. I'm sure you are shallow breathing also make sure you are hydrating. You've got the tools to use but I understand how difficult it is when
fear takes over. At least try the deep breathing. Don't need to be in bed, maybe on the couch, wrapping a hot towel (out of the dryer) around your shoulders can help in relaxing your muscles. We're here for you. You'll be okay.
I’m just worried with only 2 hours of sleep and then I will be up all night tonight going...I am scared I will pass out or something because of my extreme lack of sleep. Like I said...I am already dizzy. My Fitbit app said I woke up at 2:58am, but I barely remember before sunrise at all.
Call your doctor's office if you think that may reassure you regarding the loss of sleep. I understand exactly how you are feeling. I've been there before when anticipating surgery or procedures. Your tired but your mind won't relax enough to allow you to sleep. I would think that just resting with your eyes closed may help.
I’m sure your done with the prep and the colonoscopy by the time you read my reply. So the prep wasn’t bad other the using the bathroom for a few hours. And the colonoscopy took 15 min and that wasn’t bad I bet. People read things online that are so far fetched and people fall for it, including me.
Dustin, I'm watching the time... You can do this... stay positive and this will be over sooner than you think..
Thank you for your help! I really appreciate it. I start the prepping in less than hour. Just uploaded a pre-prep video if ya are interested.
I'm good thanks.. seen enough through my daughter's preps
I’m mostly focused on what I am mentally going through. Not so much the process itself.
I got into it. What I did last night was type in Youtube.com/channel/UCsLWFF
This is so much easier.
No problem. Yeah. This channel is mainly dedicated to anxiety and mental health. I am approaching it as a Vlog about how I am feeling mentally mainly. Or I may talk about how my physical feelings effect my mind.
