One man many problems

I have battled anxiety my whole life and have been in a major depressive state for about 2 years now.

I live in rural America and there aren't any options for group interaction so I am trying the online forums.

What has been the best tool you have found for conquering depression?

How has anyone mastered their anxiety?

I am 45 years old and feel like a newborn baby when it comes to solving these two conditions. I really need some help, guidance, and support.

I get some temporary relief and then everything falls back down to an even darker place than before.

I have to master these issues before I can lead a healthy life.

welcome parsh....and the best advice I could give you is patience with yourself. By reading others comments, posts, and sharing your own story's is a great way to interact and understand others with similar issues as your own. It's a life long journey, no short cuts, or magic pill....some of us like myself take SSRI's...others do not and have other methods of dealing with their depression and anxiety.

Hi the first thing to do is visit your doctor and start accessing some medical help. x

Thanks for the advice. I do actually have a psychiatrist (meds) and a psychologist (talking). I have taken an SSRI for many years now with decent anxiety control, but had two depressive issues while being on this med.

I have been on top of this episode better than any of my other depressive times. Meds, sleep, food, exercise, etc., but have dealt with this episode longer than any other with not much improvement for the timeline. I am also trying to learn mindfulness with slow results.

I know to be patient but it gets really hard the longer this episode lasts.

I am just frustrated with myself and this situation.
