Hey everyone - I just learned (on this lovely forum!) that May is Mental Health Awareness Month! Great job Media and local community for letting me know nothing about it, all these 34 years of my life... ! So now I am searching for local events, tests and screenings being offered, groups I can join locally... What is everyone else finding in their areas where you live?

Hi HEJAN417, I'm in Chicago and larger hospitals that offer Behavioral Medicine are doing free assessments for mental health issues. I didn't see anything about it in the news either. Glad you are on the forum Good luck...

nothing here....but I did see the last Grey's Anatomy....and kuddos to them for doing a show on how mental health effects just everyday life. One doctor hated his mother for not being there for him emotionally as a kid, turns out she was bipolar...he had a chance now in life to know her and understand her as she had a routine and was on meds and that kept her balanced. Another was in labor and had intense anxiety around it...the staff was confused and it had to be explained to them what she was feeling from her point of view, it was life and death...not just being in labor...she was worried about everything. It was a very good show...
