US VA hospitals getting Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation(TMS) systems for depression treatment

I discovered from a friend of mine that VA hospital near me is getting a TMS system for treatment of depression and other types of problems. They will start treating at the end of April. This is happening all over the country. If you qualify for service there it might help you. Maybe yours is getting one too.. give them a call and check it out. TMS helps a lot of people with depression.

TMS is Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation -

In my interpretation of it is that it is pulsed magnetic therapy with a powerful magnet at a relatively low frequency.. on the brain. I have simplified it of course.. I think they use 3 regions and they do some mapping.

You might have heard of some of the popular PEMF devices like the BEMER or the iMRS.. drpawluk.com talks about a lot of different devices.

The machine that they use for the brain is very sophisticated.

I use an inexpensive PEMF for my aches and pains... sota.com - magnetic pulser. One of the members of my family is using the EarthPulse pemf to help them sleep. It is a neat device as it relaxes you and gives you very colorful dreams. These are simple PEMFs compared the the TMS

They talk about the TMS stimulating function in the brain.

Searching pubmed also brings up articles about using it for MS and Parkinsons.
