One day at a time

One day at a time. It’s the most important thing to keep on telling yourself. One hour at a time. Thoughts race, you can’t stop crying. You are in this situation for days. When does it end? It ends with one day at a time. Think of now. I know it is easier said than done. But for that moment if you can reach out for help, text a healthline, with their help you will get through. Or write here. There is always someone to hear you out. Nothing is forever even if it feels like it. This too shall pass.

I went through a crisis just this morning. If it wasn’t for the counselor at suicide prevention I don’t know where I’d be now. I am on meds, I do see a therapist when I can, but major depressive disorder is such that combined with anxiety and panic disorder one can spiral down really fast and hit rock bottom. From there, you need to climb back up. But you can. The fact that you wrote here tells me that even if it is infinitesimal you have love for yourself and you know you don’t deserve this. This is the cancer of the mind. No one understands this better than people who live with it. Each day we survive. A moment of peace shows you how brave and strong you are. You are braver than you know, smarter than you think. 24/7 crisis chat/text line is 741 741. There will be someone there who responds to you and works with you. If you feel too overwhelmed just text them and write. You are not alone at all. You are seeking help. Don’t forget that means courage. The text line was helpful to me this morning in the middle of crisis.
