Zoloft? Feel worse before you feel better?

I have panic disorder and was put on Zoloft but it’s only day 5 and day 3 I woke up with a severe panic attack, having different psychical symptoms, more depression... called the Pharmacist & she explained it could be worse before it gets better because the brain needs time to adapt to the meds. Anyone else experience this? Did the Zoloft eventually work and when did you start to notice it working! Thanks!

I was put on Zoloft when I was first diagnosed with depression and anxiety with panic attacs and my attacks got worse I was on Zoloft for about 2 weeks and then my depression started to worsen and I tried to commit suicide they admitted me into the hospital that day and immediatey took me off the Zoloft and switched me to Effexor and it really works for me so far I've been on it since December 2017 but I am still struggling with my severe anxiety and panic attacks it has gotten better I used to have attacks every day or every other day but not it's more like once or twice a week or something I'll go a whole week without one! Effexor has really turned my mood around but recovery does take time! Keep your head up and stay safe.. just remember how your feeling isn't permanent there are always good days ahead.

No problem at all I just know exactly what your going through I kept telling my doctors I wanted to die that I couldn't see past today or the next hour I just didn't wanna live another day but then they told me to just focus on today and how I can improve myself eachday.. That really made me see life different everyday is a NEW day we start over every morning we wake up. Do something each day that scares you, you will start to become more and more comfortable, take walks in beautiful scneries, take long got showers or go to a pet store and play with puppies and kittens they will show you unconditional Love!

That's how the antidepressants works your going to feel worse before you get better and it can take 4-6 weeks before you get better, I'm on my 4th weeks on Citalopram and Gabapentin and still hasn't kick in yet, trying to be strong 😞

Seems that’s what most people are saying... it gets worse before it gets better. I’m just in day 5 but I almost try telling myself I just have the flu. I feel so yucky, weak, more anxious, tired, depressed, no appetite, fearful. I’m going to try and stick with it so hopefully I get to the good part that makes all this worth it. I also am on thyroid medication so not sure if that is effecting me in some way to bring in this sever anxiety that caused me to have to get the Zoloft? (and it’s generic for Zoloft that I’m taking). Thank you for sharing & responding... we just need to hang in there and go to the follow up appts with our Dr.’s! Sometimes it feels we might not make it or is this even worth it!? Well we are stronger than we think... everyone’s replies encourage because you aren’t alone with what you are going g through. Thanks again!
