My name is Paige, I’m 24 years old. I have Anxiety, Depression, & PTSD. I’ve lost who I am and I want to find myself again. I just don’t know where to start. I’ve been suicidal/depressed on and off for almost 11 years. I was on medication but decided it was a good idea to go off of it because it was making my depression worse. Now everything is so much worse. It got to the point where I couldn’t even drive myself anywhere. My mind on a fast track to who knows where and that scares me. I’ve never seen a therapist. I’ve moved to a new area so I’m afraid to find a new doctor. I’m all over the place right now and I don’t know if I’ll be okay.

Hi Paige

I have been where you are, heck in some ways I still am. I know how hard it can be to start with a new doctor. It's like you don't want to start all over trying to explain yourself or your situations. You don't feel like voicing it all out loud because sometimes saying it out loud can make it somehow more real and agonising. You did good by talking about it tho. Coming here is a start. (As I feel) someone mentioned to me meditation, I have never tried it but I am willing to. Apparently there are YouTube videos out there on this sort of thing. Maybe trying to slow your mind down by doing this might help you as well. Finding the right therapist is important as well. Try and let that be a goal. I'm new to all of this (talking it out) but I am here for you ....Even if I'm not that helpful.

I hate going back to the darkest place I’ve ever been to get the right medication or just talking about it in general it makes me so upset.

paigexnicole_ that first step will be the hardest but is so necessary in getting unstuck. Seeing a therapist is most important in addressing these chronic issues you are dealing with. Ignoring them or being fearful in talking about them will only continue to grow and that is why your mind is all over the place right now. It has become so overwhelming for you. A therapist can help you sort out your issues and give you a path to follow that will allow you to go forward.

Of course, we are also here to support and understand what you are going through. We've all been through this journey as well. Take our hands, there is strength in numbers. xx

Dear Paige,

I am so sorry you are having such a hard time. I know exactly how you feel. Please know you are not alone. I know it's difficult, but do your best to contact a therapist. Relief is out there. Anxiety is hard, but there is hope! In the meantime, this link might be helpful. Sending you my best.

I love all the support on here. It makes me feel less lonely.

Welcome! I want to ask when you decided to stop your meds did you do it cold turkey? If not that can put you in a serious tailspin. If you have moved unless you can go back to where you are from it’s important to find a new doctor. That is a necessity. Not just for mental health but health in general. It sounds like you could truly benefit from seeing a doctor. Have you met anyone where you live or do you have family or a support system? I truly hope so! I joined here and have found this group to be such a support system to me. I hope you find the same. I also highly suggest that you try to see a therapist. It can be so helpful in getting to the root of things, recognizing triggers, developing coping skills and relaxation techniques. The meds are more of bandaids to hold things in place while you work through things with a therapist. We’re here for you. 24/7. However we can’t take the place of your doctors or therapists etc. We are just peer support and a caring ear. Please get some help. It doesn’t have to be like that I promise.

Yes in 2015 I quit my meds cold turkey. I can’t be in the car for too long of a time it makes me really anxious so my old doctor is 50 minutes away. I live with my boyfriend & I have a few friends. My boyfriend doesn’t understand what I’m going through. He does try his hardest to understand.
