Hi, I’m Becky,I am 19 and I have anxiety. I have always been a worried child I used to worry about things a child would not even think about and it’s turned into anxiety as I’ve gotten older. my Mum suffers with anxiety so I’m not sure if it has stemmed from that? I also have depression from this as anxiety has stopped me from doing and experiencing things that regular 19 year olds are doing. my life at the moment literally consists of waking up going to work (which I do not enjoy) then coming home and going to sleep and I don’t know how to change it.

My introduction
omg becky... I feel like I could have wrote this. First of all, Hi. We are the same age, and both have mothers have anxiety (one of my aunts has it as well)! I was also a really anxious child, I had an irrational fear of tsunamis among many other things. I was actually never diagnosed by a doctor with having anxiety. I just knew. I had that realization in 4th or 5th grade. I was on the car ride home after spending the weekend with my dad (divorce), and I started feeling strange - but I knew I had felt the same way before. I tried explaining to my dad how I was feeling because I didn't want him to play loud music and I felt like crying. Then it hit me, I said " I think I have anxiety.", and from there it just clicked.
I also feel like I have missed out on so much "normal" teen things. Point is I understand ya, so if you need a friend to talk to I'll be here, okay? - Celeste
Hey girl! My name is Allison, I am 21, and I too suffer from anxiety and depression. My days sound a lot like yours, sleep work sleep work eat sleep work etc. It can become quite lonely and empty. My best advice to you is to find a hobby, and immerse yourself in it. For me, running, crafting, and reading are my three favorite things to do. Occupy your mind, and try your best to stay positive. This will pass, and you can and will find peace in your life <3 If you ever need a friend feel free to reach out and message me. Sending my best wishes!

Hi @Beckydereece
Many here will understand what you’re going through and we sympathise with you but you should know that you do have the power to change your life if you want to.
Is it easy?
No
Will it take effort and hard work?
Yes.
By think about this...is it harder to be moving towards an idea about how you would like your life to be, with purpose and meaning or to remain going through the same day to day that your living now?
It may be that you’re worry and anxiety is born out of a feeling of a lack of control.
If you could begin to change your life, let’s just suppose and use our imagination here, what do you think would be the right way to begin?
