Hi. I was wondering if anyone can offer any advice.
I currently take 40 mg daily of fluoxetine (Prozac) my doctor prescribed me Mirtazapine also to take at night as the Prozac are not having any affects now.
I’ve decided against taking the Mirtazapine due to the main side effect being weight gain.
I just wondered if anyone takes the supplement Tyrosine? I have googled and it says they are safe to take with an SSRI.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

Hi, prozac can take 8 weeks to reach full potential. Mirtazapine will definitely put on weight as it makes you very hungry. I am not familiar with the supplement you mentioned.
Hi. Thanks very much for your reply, I’ve been on Prozac for a number of years so think I’ve built up some resistance to them. I hadn’t heard of this supplement until I stumbled across it when searching on google and it seemed ideal.
Hi, I was on Prozac for ten years and built up a tolerance - it makes me mad because then I went on Zoloft and it did the same thing. Now I am in a battle with the drugs we have tried and I have been in a bad depression and wicked anxiety!!! Have you tried Melatonin for sleep, it has worked for me for decades, and I do not gain weight. Check out supplements, and ask your Dr. they need to be able to help us, that is what we pay them for. Go to a quality health food store, they will be able to give you some help. That's all I can offer at this time, I wish you well as I know how you feel about weight gain. I send you success, much love, and write to us we care. Sending Love & Big Hugs. Sprinkle 1
Sorry to hear you are suffering too. I’m always so reluctant to go to the doctors, in all the years I’ve had depression, I don’t think they’ve ever helped me, apart from prescribing me the Prozac. I know I don’t push it enough, but when I feel so depressed the last thing I feel like is being assertive.
I just feel (well I think I know actually) that my knowledge of anxiety & depression is so much more than my doctors.
I haven’t tried melatonin yet, I don’t suffer too much with insomnia, it’s more just getting through each day without wanting to crawl into a hole and disappear.
Thank you again for your reply, I do find your words a comfort.
