Citalopram

So I've been on my citalopram for 4 weeks today for my anxiety. Is it a good sign that the meds are working if I'm having better days in between the bad days?

Also the mornings are usually worse than the evenings. Is this a good sign too?

Hi,

Yes, it could be the meds but there are other circumstances that could affect your mood and outlook. Is there anything else going on in your life?

I always found that when I start waking up great and ready to tackle the world that the citalopram is working.

I hope so. How long have you been on yours?

I have been on and off citalopram for 3 years. Usually take it for 6 months and then take a break until I feel I need it again.

Yes we've had a pretty traumatic time as a family last week so it could be that that's set me back. I am starting to smile and laugh sometimes. And focus on the tv and reading which is good for me.

That's progress - good going. Keep looking for those silver linings.

Do you take them for both symptoms or just anxiety?

I don't suffer from severe anxiety - more chronic depression. so, when I feel I am going downhill I start taking it and with the increased energy i can do the things that prolong being "normal"..until my next episode

Yay! So glad that you are feeling better. I don't know why the timing would be as it is. Some meds are extended release so that the effects last throughout the day. Enjoy feeling better and ask your doctor next time you see him/her. Or, call or make an appointment. So very happy for you!
