Off traz, still dizzy

shannon_nicole777 profile image

I'm off the traz completely now, been off a few days now. I am still experiencing frequent dizzy spells. My Dr checked out my heart (ekg) & did blood pressure tests, standing and laying down..all checked out. She thinks it's a symptom of my anxiety. Also, wants to change me from Lexapro to prozac (fluoxitine). Has anyone ever switched meds like that before?? I'm afraid to do it... Might make things worse. Tho, the prospect of them maybe getting better is tempting. I am so miserable all the time dealing with this constant anxiety and fear of panic attacks. I hadn't had one in months, then within the last week I've had three. :'(

I actually switched my meds from me work to Prozac and I had less side effects and it seemed to work better. That was my experience and I didn't have a problem just switching, I started at 20 mg and at some point went to 40 and then back down to 20 again. Hopefully it will work the same for you, I know it can be very scary but you never know until you try. Good luck

Thank you for your feedback. I hope my experience is just as successful. I'm waiting till the weekend to switch over because I want to make sure I'll be ok to go to work...give it a few days to see how it affects me.. But I'll let you know how it goes when I do switch.

Good idea, I use to wait for the weekend as well just in case of the side effects. I'll have my fingers crossed and keep me posted

So far so good, yesterday I just felt spacey for the first few hrs on prozac but then that feeling lessened. I def feel less anxious and I had no problem sleeping last night. So, happy with results so far. I say so far, cuz you never know.. Just waiting to see if it keeps up

Does Prozac help? My doctor prescribed Ativan. I am scared to take it.

Prozac helped me but everyone is different, you have to try it and see how you feel. I also take Ativan when needed, I take it when my anxiety is bad and it helps take the edge off. I know trying meds is scary but if you need them I would try them. Do it on the weekend so you can judge how you will feel.

I am a 46 yo female. I feel like my anxiety gets severe when I am in hot or loud places or when I don't eat or I forget to take my birth control pills. I start feeling really scared. Do you take Ativan in the day?

I don't know why I get panic attacks..no one else in my family has them.

I take .5 or 1 mg as needed

My Dr refuses to give me anything like xanax or ativan to help me in the midst of a panic attack. She thinks I'll get addicted. The prozac seems to be better than the lexapro, so far. I've only just taken the second pill. I didn't take Lexapro Fri night and started the Prozac Sat morning.
