hi i am new and i guess i am just looking for any way to feel better at this point. My life has not one thing wrong with it, yet all I do is find things to hate. I can't handle my anxiety with exams and I am really considering dropping out of school. I hate to do that because i am a great student but I can't handle it anymore. My parents don't know what to do with me. I just hate myself.

Exam anxiety is common for students even when I was a student I get anxious before exam. With the right preparation, study hard, and gain a lot of knowledge, you will do great. I remember one of my classmates who rarely showed up in my class, she told me spoken to our professor about her anxiety and our professor was understanding enough to pass her. She was a great student but her anxiety is stopping her. If you have any concerns, why don't you open up with one of your professors/teacher?

Hi Lex2199,

Welcome and thank you for sharing on the forum.

My reply is based on the link at the end of this blog - just pick out the bits that are relevant to you.

Your school will have a student assistance program (SAP) which is free and confidential. You’ll receive counseling sessions and 24/7 telephone assistance at no cost to you

The SAP is designed to assist students and their families to manage the impact that a wide variety of personal and family problems can have on student behavior and achievement.

Many issues can negatively impact a student including those related to family conflict, emotional or mental health problems, limited parenting skills, substance abuse, bullying and other peer conflict.

Services provided include telephone consultation, in-person sessions and referrals to community resources, if needed.

The Student Assistance Program (SAP) is a here to help you and your family members deal with concerns in your life — by finding solutions.

The SAP is available to you 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is strictly confidential.

When to Call the SAP

You can count on the SAP for guidance and support. Call the SAP for issues that interfere with your daily activities, happiness, family stability or overall wellbeing.

Some of the topics a SAP counselor can help you with are:

•School performance

•Stress

•Confusion

•Trouble with peers

•Alcohol and other drug problems

•Eating disorders

•Problem gambling concerns

•Dating and relationship issues

•Conflict, bullying or violence

•Depression or suicidal thoughts

•Family concerns

Who will know I used the SAP?

Within legal limits, no one will be given any information about your visit without your permission.

If additional resources are needed, the counselor works to ensure referrals are appropriate, beneficial and affordable.

This link has an excellent video and some additional resources for SAP.
