Very weird that I just saw this, and I literally just created an account to reply to you.
I was on Effexor for 3 years before going off of everything for the last 7 months. I was put on Wellbutrin XR 150 last month. While it has only been 5 weeks, I'm not really finding it helpful so far. I'm more on the anxiety side vs. depression, and I don't think it helps me enough. I just made an appointment this morning with an actual psychiatrist after only being treated by a GP for the last few years. I'm hoping to find something that will work similarly to the Effexor, without all the awful side effects of it.
Be careful switching - I believe Effexor is an SNRI and Wellbutrin is an NDRI. So you'll likely have some serotonin withdrawal. I would talk to your doc about tapering slowly while you switch. Have heard good things about Wellbutrin though
Know someone whose Welbitrn wasn't helping very much so is now taking on low dose of Cymbalta with it in the morning. That was several months ago and she hasn't said anything about it.
I am titrating off 450mg Wellbutrin and 120mg Cymbalta. They didn't seem to do much for me. I'm also suspicious of Wellbutrin causing an extreme case of dry mouth.
Hi ,
I was on Effexor for a while but it never worked for me. Than I was on Wellbutrin for a few years it worked basically ok for me. Except if I got really upset I would instantly self destructive like cutting myself or trying to make myself throw up ,.
But on the plus side Wellbutrin helped my stay very thin and I had plenty of engery .
Be careful and hope it goes well for you
