Post-College Depression

Anyone else experienced post-college depression? I graduated last year and I still haven't found a full time or part time job. Moved back into my parents, which has its other problems. At first I was optimistic but now I don't get the point of applying or searching for job. I know that these things take time but I log onto Facebook and see people I graduated with (younger than me) that have full time jobs, their own place, living with roommates, engaged, married, have kids or some combo of those. And I'm here living with my parents with no job and what seems like no future.

Well I doubt that everyone you know has all this and you are only seeing those who seem to have everything. Don't forget that it's easy to assume looking in from the outside that everyone is busy and happy, when the reality may be very different. I bet some of them don't like their jobs, are tired, have partner or child issues etc. and I bet some of them would envy you still having your freedom.

If you don't apply for jobs you will never have what they do (if that's what you want) so get busy and keep looking for work. Then you can move out from your parents and start living your life the way you want to.

It can be difficult to find work these days so maybe consider anything until you can find the job you really want. Working will give you a greater sense of self esteem and leave you less time and energy to be envious of others. Oh and stay off social media for the time being if it makes you feel like this!

Your post literally describes my life. I graduated a year ago, moved back in with my parents, and am still unemployed. I've applied to countless jobs and have got nowhere. I gave up a few weeks ago and started applying to graduate school but still have not heard back from any. My depression has got incredibly worse the past six months simultaneously with my optimistic attitude for life. So I definitely feel for where you are at girl. But hopefully your luck will turn around and hopefully mine will join.
