I have been diagnosed with GAD and Major Depressive Disorder. I have not been able to tolerate meds other than lorazepam, but I don't want to stay on that for a long time. Has anyone else's body not tolerated meds? They said I am highly sensitive. Every time I try to back down on lorazepam, the anxiety/depression hits hard. I am in therapy and am learning about meditation. I am also awake between 3-4 a.m. every morning. Any suggestions on other things to do to help cope with all of this? Thank you.
🤣🤣🤣🤣You are funny! You have GAD and MDD and rather than remain on a treatment plan, you want to instead work on coping without meds? Goodluck with that one. You are up at 3-4 am.because of anxiety, duh!
You said Lorazopam works for you, but you don't want to be on it does long time, why is that?
And when you say your body is sensitive to medications, what do you exactly mean?
Im very sensitive to meds, I can't take them. I have bad reactions to them. I'm trying to figure out how to help myself without medications. I do yoga, walk, draw, write me feelings and emotions down, I talk to myself out loud to hear my thoughts (sorta like I'm my own therapist) I changed my diet, I drink lots of tea! It helps tremendously. I take things day by day. Step by step. It's good you are in therapy ☺ that helps. Group therapy is helps too 👍☮
Medications have side effects fo
r me also, and had to go through and trial and error until the correct combination was found. You sound like you're having a tough time of it at the moment.
Didn't know if the prescribing doctor is also your therapist, but it's great that you are learning how to use meditation. While I know I need medication to "patch" me together, like you, I have tried other non-medical techniques to help wth the anxiety and depression....and there are a number of self help information sources on this venue. Like you, I don't want to be on meds forever, but what is helping me may not be appropriate for you. Other than meditation, have you asked your doctor and therapist about other techniques that may help you as they know your mental health situation better than I would.
BonnieSue has a list of some resources on her site. I saved the list, but don't know how to forward it to you. Maybe you might want to message her and ask about that list.
My very best wishes to you in your "search mission."
