Hi, everyone. I'm a 37 year old mother of two who works full time outside of the house. I've dealt with depression since I was 22 years old. For a long time, I had minimal symptoms on 20 mg. of Lexapro. My stress level has increased significantly over the past 2-3 years. I recently was hospitalized in the psych ward for 5 days. While there, the doctor added Effexor to my Lexapro. It's been about 3 weeks and I am not feeling any better. I know that it takes time for medicine to kick in and to start feeling the benefits. I am just wondering if anyone else is taking Lexapro and Effexor and what benefits/disadvantages you have experienced. I feel lower, have less energy and am more tired than I was before starting the Effexor. The doctor also had me on Elavil three times per day but I stopped taking it when I left the hospital. I don't see how more medicine that causes tiredness is going to help. When am I going to feel better? How long is it going take?

Welcome to the community. I hope your doing well today, I don't have very much input on antidepressants unfortunately! I wasnt able to take them because I couldn't get past the side effects 😕
I remember my gp telling me to try to give the lexapro around 6 weeks to start working
Is anyone here taking Effexor? What has your experience been? Good? Bad?
