Is the pain real?

Hi My name is Vanessa and I'm new here. I'm a stay at home mom, I have a 3 year old daughter, and 4 stepchildren who are of school age. I have suffered from anxiety since adolescence but haven't had symptoms for almost 20 years. I have always suffered from OCD like symptoms but over the past year or so, my anxiety has gotten worse. Then I was recently sick for over a month and it made my anxiety 100 times worse. Now I have trouble sleeping and even enjoying the company of my children. I am irritable and exhausted from all the constant worrying. I primarily suffer from health anxiety and find the most frustrating thing about it is being able to tell if what I am feeling is real or a product of my anxiety! Every little twinge or feeling makes me worry to no end. I miss being able to sleep restfully.

  • That happens to me too. I think it happens to a lot of us that suffer from anxiety. We worry about any little thing and we can make it 100 times worse. A pain in the arm could lead you to believing it's a heart attack. Get a full check up if you haven't already, that could help ease your anxiety.

  • Yup that's me......any pain anywhere means something horrible!

  • Hi. Health Anxiety is a treatable condition. Can you find a Cognitive-behavioral therapist in your area?

  • I know what you are saying. Having the physical problems make the anxiety explode! I worry a lot with my physical issues and it makes everything worse. Been anxious for years. It's very disheartening. And yes exhausted most of time from all the worry. I'm so anxious I cannot gain weight and am so skinny starting to look frail ugh! Would be great to have you all close by to have face to face support group!
