I checked my BMI and its 16.12, I am 5ft7 weighing just under 7 an half stone. I cant take meds for other problems as i feel sick. I cant eat much or i will feel sick. I have had a problem in the past of feeling big even though im not. Im not as bad anymore but i cant eat much. To be honest if it were not for my other half i dont think i would eat at all as i get that feeling like i cant be botherd to eat or i feel sick at the fact of eating. I cant stand outside in the cold for an hour without feeling froze, my whole body shakes, i cant talk if i feel froze an i get chest pains. I lose hair also. I have tried talking to the doctors about this but they shrug at me. I have registerd at a new doctors now and am waiting for a medical appointment from them.

I'm sorry you have had a difficult time with the doctors. I too find that some doctors are willing to listen and try to help, others not so. I've tried a couple of doctors in my practice before I found one who is on my wavelength. It also takes a while to develop any relationship and needs patience and persistence on my part.

What do you want your doctor to do? Do you know whether there is an eating disorder specialty in your area? is that what you want?

There is support from Anorexia Bulimia Care as well. Have you tried any of their booklets or getting in touch with them.

I'm glad your husband effectively stops you losing even more weight. Could you try gradually increasing your food intake either in the meals or snacks. A little often?

I think there are sources on the web although these can't replace seeing a dietician. I've just typed in "anorexia recovery diet plan" into google and there some ideas. Ultimately we have to take the decision to eat healthily and recover. My dietician advised taking one step at a time like adding in an extra snack or having a potato with the main meal then increasing food intake gradually. This way the increased diet becomes more normal and although it is scary to eat more I have found nothing too drastic happens - just feel better when I can overcome the eating disorder screaming at me.

I am also sorry that you GPs have been unable to signpost you some sort of help. Even if they are unable to refer you I would like to think that they know of organisations that your could talk to. I wonder what they answer is when you ask specifically what help is available? Keep preserving and don't give up.
