I recently read an article about a study which had been done stating that - and I quote;

"ANOREXICS, bulimics and binge eaters are costing the economy more than £1billion a year in sickness, death and loss of employment, a new report has found."

....................this study was done on behalf of a well known eating disorder charity, so one would presume it was somehow meant to be of some use. However my initial reaction, as someone with and eating disorder I might add, was "Great" that has the possibilty of generating resentment towards the sufferers 'costing' everyone money and that people who already do not understand the illness will be alienated further. And as usual with the government everything is on cost, rather cuttung cost, so what next??????

No matter what, if they did a study on it you'd find something wrong. How much did the study cost? And what was it to achieve. Apparently it was used to "Prompted calls for earlier treatment for those affected to reduce hospital admissions, illness and premature death." But ironically I guess this would perhaps cost money.....staff training?

I think this as cast a shadow over the illness rather than promote awareness and empathy.

If that is my opinion, then what does the rest of the population think, especially those who are in no way connected to eating disorders?

Some things you cannot and should not put a price on.
