First month of anorexia recovery

Is it possible to gain fats in the first month of recovery eating 2500-3000 calories a day? I have gained about 4kg. I’m 100% sure it’s not body dysmorphia as I have put pictures side by size and I look significantly bigger in my arms, thighs and stomach. Is this water retention or real fat gain?

For the photos, TOP left is arm (before) top Right is arm (after), middle is legs after and bottom is legs before. Does it look like water retention or fat?

I can’t answer your question about the bio chemistry but I think your ‘after’ pics look very little different from the others. I think recovery from ED takes a long time: patience is required. I wish you well. Xx

The weight gain you describe is perfectly normal for a month of treatment - and the pictures look fine to me - I think the ED is playing mind games with you and persuading you that its all fat - I hope you are getting support during this recovery period as its very important to talk these feelings/thoughts through - you can also talk to the ABC helpline - but please be very aware that during recovery the anorexic thoughts can become very strong and distort your view of things.
