Hi all I took some time out of healthunlocked to focus on my own recovery from anorexia from the age off 14

I am now 31 .

Now nearly 8 months In and at the best weight I've been in over 14 years I want to try and encourage others to do the same .

The stories shared on here are all very relevant in my own journey to get to where I am . My success has been much down to others who have recovered and have shared there own experiences with me,so I am at the point where I want to do the same.

It's really not easy and I'm still not 100% recovered but I fight everyday and am starting to see life is more about a number on the scale or a fad diet . If anyone wants to get in touch with there struggles or just for someone to talk to feel free to PM me x

I will pm you..see if you get it .. There Are to speech bubbles on top page (,next to the bell??)

if you go into that...

Thanks for your story - its so encouraging to read of a success and gives us all such hope. Have you thought of getting in touch with ABC - they have befrienders who are recovered from EDs but come alongside others to support them - might be something you could get involved in at some point.

Thanks cross . Yes I have . they require you have 2 years minimum off dull recovery and I'm not quite there yet. Because they are a charity I guess they have to have certain procedures in place to ensure that people arnt triggered. Hopefully I can help others in a different way for now xx

This is the first time I have responded to a post but I have read people's stories, struggles and battles as well as accomplishments. This post made me want to respond in a positive way, I am trying so hard to recover at home after many stints recovering since 18 (I am now 30) and would really like to talk to you just for some insight etc. Keep fighting - you're amazing xx

Hi there! I love to hear and, in your case, see results and recovery. I too had an eating disorder starting at age 8... compulsive overeating to anorexia to bulimia to exercise addiction...There is hope. At 60, I cannot say I am cured but I know I am loved, worthy, and enough. Through perseverance, faith, and help from professional Christian counseling, support groups like OA and Celebrate Recovery, and the tough love of family and friends, the walk towards healthy living and God have been a journey which has left me joyful AND HOPEFUL! Congratulations to you Sammy987 and let's all keep on moving forward!

You look awesome. I see you commented about not 100% recovered. I feel we recover to the fullest we can. It may not be 100%. I think of it like this. I am definitely a million times better after recovering than before. I suffer from PTSD which I continue mental treatment and a small dose of Zoloft daily. I never even knew why I became ill at fourteen. I am now 56. Long time of Anorexia I know. My childhood sexual abuse was the beginning of my illness. I remember everything now. I am recovered to my fullest and I have won the war against Anorexia and my PTSD. I will go to mental treatment forever probably. Hey! That's ok. It sure is better than the other alternative right?

Absoulty. I think we beat ourselves up believeing that we have to get to this perfect place but in reality we just need to enjoy life and not respond badly when things go wrong. Life is about up a and downs . Unfortunately today we live in a very distorted society where everywhere we look there are new headlines about to much sugar, fat ,alcahol.. and now to much fruit is bad!!! it's insane. All i know now is that responding to my own body is all I need to listen to .

It's ok to be in a bigger body. xxx

Hi I would really like to know how you got to the point you are at as far as I've read some of your earlier posts and I was wondering did your periods ever come back and at what BMI?

I would like to PM you or could you please PM me as I would like to ask a couple questions as it seems we have a lot in common and I am dying to get some sort of mentor to help me with my anorexia?
