I'm new here. I decided to join after texting a crisis hotline. I joined mainly because of depression but when I saw eating disorders on here it made me nervous. I'm not at the point where I feel like I can start recovery but hopefully this will help me make that decision.

Hi i am not a professional but I do think depression/ anxiety can be all linked up with eating disorders. My daughter is recovering from anorexia. It has been a long hard journey but she is doing really well & we are so proud of her. She has been discharged from CAMHS as she reached 18 & Adult mental health services wouldn't take her on as not high risk enough (!!!). Anyway there is no support now for her eating disorder. Through Health in Mind she has a 1st appt today for CBT, but this will only deal with anxiety. They do not deal with EDs they told her. Think what I am trying to say is maybe by getting some help with your depression you could then think about being more open about your ED. You WILL need support to recover . My daughter was anxious & depressed before the anorexia took hold. I don't know if we could have stopped the anorexia but by dealing with anxiety & depression you perhaps become stronger & more able to fight the ED. Hope some of this makes sense & please do try to talk to someone close to you about how you are feeling. You deserve a life without your ED xxxx
