What is the difference between anorexia and wanting to lose too much weight?

Recently, eating has become something different. I don't want to eat unhealthy foods, I don't want to eat too much food, I don't want to eat at all. I've become obsessed with losing weight and it's just going down, but I still feel fat and unfit even though I'm underweight. I don't know if I should tell anyone because it doesn't feel serious, I just want to lose weight. Should I tell someone?

I was in exactly the same position as you except I didn’t tell anyone and let things spiral out of control it’s now two years on I’m only just getting the help I need. I suggest you tell someone you trust however insignificant or not serious it may seem it can quickly change trust me, I found that confiding in someone helped when I was ready to face up to my feelings towards food. Please talk to someone it doesn’t even have to be a family member maybe a friend, start making the journey back to normality. Your feelings aren’t irrelevant and you have definitely recognised something has changed hope things get better soon sending hugs always here to help xxx

YES - you should tell someone - and tell someone now. You are clearly aware that eating - or rather not eating - and losing weight has become an obsession rather than a healthy option - so do please go to your GP - or speak to your parents/friends. Things spiral out of control - and weight loss becomes increasingly serious - so don't leave it thinking you're OK - get some advice - visit the ABC website - ring their helpline - this can be a useful aid to taking the next step.
