I too am confused about whether I have an eating disorder or not. I have purged in the past, but not consistently. And just recently I didn't eat for about three days but eventually caved in and had two portions of spag bol. I have also taken laxatives in the past and my highest dose was over 20 in a day (they were not prescripted). Any thoughts?

Hi Ruby101, the fact that you question whether you have an eating disorder brings up some concern for you to see your doctor. Not eating for three days as well as having taken laxatives in the past all point to a possible serious problem in the making.

I saw the signs in my own daughter seven years ago, thinking it was just a phase of wanting to be a model and now..... She abuses laxatives, diuretics and won't reach out for help.

Give yourself the benefit of the doubt and seek help please. x

Go to your GP - starving, taking laxatives - not a healthy approach to things. You clearly recognise you have a problem - so do please get to see a health professional - abusing your body with laxatives and starving can cause so many problems - I know from experience - and the longer it goes on the more complex the problem becomes and the more damage is done to your body.

I still really feel that I need to lose A LOT of weight... I have gone back to not eating and it seems to have worked as the number on the scales is going down quite a bit in a matter of only a night..?

Ruby dear, If there is a weight issue then there is a safe way of losing weight under the guidance of a health professional. As crazycrosstitcher stated, not eating is not a healthy approach to losing weight. It's so true, the longer it goes on, the more complex and serious the problem becomes. Believe me, you don't want to go that route. x
