Dear Scoobie56,

I’m sure you already have, but if not, it’s best to talk to your GP/primary care physician first. If you decide CBT might be an appropriate treatment I can personally recommend Dr Matt Hutt who has over 20 year’s clinical experience and specialises on CBT for treating eating disorders. He is available via an NHS referral or as a private outpatient. Here are his details newbridge-health.org.uk/abo... alternatively, you can contact Dr Hutt at Newbridge House on 0121 580 8362. I do this has been of some help to you.

Dear anon68

Thank you very much for your kind reply. Yes i am in regular contact with my GP but sadly he can only offer a Mental Health Team which provide outpatient and residential treatment, however they do not offer any kind of psychological treatments such as CBT, ED counselling etc, purely interested in weighing patients and its like a feeding clinic. The stories I have read from patients experiencing their services are horrific and actually made them much worse to the point of discharging themselves.

I will contact Dr Matt Hutt following your recommendation to see what services he may be able to offer. Really grateful for your suggestion and thank you.

It sounds like you’re having a challenging time. I do hope my suggestion might be of some help in getting you through this difficult period.

Best wishes and good luck!

Hi, I have been seeing a therapist in London practice called weight matters . They are private but I can't recommend them highly enough. The support and service they have offered me has been first class . I went after reaching a desperate point with a 20 year battle with what I believed was bulimia put really had developed into purging anorexia. I still hav e a mountain to climb to get anywhere near recovery , but I feel more in control and calmer than I have in years, and actually am starting to believe I may recover from this .

Good luck.

Hi Blue123, thank you for your message...sounds great that you have managed to gain support and feel better in yourself. I have looked at private CBT and psychotherapy but so expensive starting at minimum £50 per hour. I would like to join a support group but again the ones running are in London and difficult to get there in time after work. I thought it would be easier than this to gain help.

Thank you
