Hello. I have a question. With my BED I surround myself in perfectism example the perfect meal overall perfect day for examples. You would think I am the perfect weight with it as well but I am 80 pounds overweight. I can use ideas to break down this perfect idealism or readings I can read online. thanks.

Hiya.

I also have BED so know how you feel. i tend to fall into the 'all or nothing trap'...I'm either trying really hard to "be good" (restricting) or failing miserably and binging. I think we have a bit of OCD with this disease too...i am definitely a perfectionist, i like to have everything planned out and controlled, plus my whole day can be skewed by the number on the scales.

I think the important thing is to realise that it isnt just about your weight or your goal to be thin...it's about your lack of self esteem and feeling out of control. you need to address these things before you can get the binging under control.

There is a good book my Dr Christopher Fairburn about overcoming binge eating....i found this really helpful. plus i see a counsellor every couple of weeks to address the self esteem and confidence issues.

Im not there yet, but i hope one day that my life won't revolve around food and weight...and i might finally be happy with myself the way i am (well...preferably a bit smaller).

I hope this helps

Oh Jules yes thank-you!! It is great knowing there someone out there that is like what I am going through. You do not know how sane I feel right know outside the work I need to do. I will definitely look up that book you mentioned. Thank-you again and yes there are people like me and I am not the only one!
