Dear Gigi1964,  I am the mother of a 26y.o. daughter who weighs 70 lbs and feel I am slowly losing her.  I'm sure you will get the support and answers you need as soon as the others in this group see your post.  My daughter gets medical treatment but refuses mental treatment.  They must have both.  My heart goes out to you.  I will keep you in my thoughts.  xx

Hello  Gigi1964 ~ take her straight to an Emergency Department at your Hospital near you.  You need to tell the medical staff there what she has been doing to herself.  As she is only 11 she has to do what you say.  You are her Legal Guardian and her mother.  Decide what to do "informed " ~ either stick with the hospital OR make an appointment with your family DR next, don't be scared you can do this 🌺💕

I would suggest a visit to the GP to try and get a medical for her and also push to get to an ED specialist - you could also contact ABC - they have a helpline for parents and I know how supportive they can be - and they also have practical advise that could help you.  I really pray that your daughter will get help and quickly.

Dear Gigi

Just as the other people that have replied to you I would also suggest an urgent appointment with your doctor or if she is not eating or drinking and you are worried that she is dehydrated take her to A&E.

You are at the beginning of a long hard road to get her better but with help you can do it. Anorexia is is an evil disease and you will need to be strong but know that there are people that can help and there is always hope.

I wish you all the best xx

I know health care for eating disorders is completely different in the UK, but I grew up in the US and had severe near death eating disorder starting age 14. My mom finally got me medical care at the urging of her sisters. When I was hospitalised, I had to be placed in infant ICU with near heart failure and kidney failure. I wasn't receptive to changing mentally until many years later when I was at a normal weight. 14 years later I am at a normal weight and mostly healthy, but have many hangups and bad anixety. I wonder if my mom could have gotten me in to treatment sooner if I would be more 'normal' now. I know your daughter may hate you for it, but please do everything in your power to get her back to a healthy place. The sooner EDs are treated, the better the outcome. It is hard to change thought processes until weight is restored-and often some more...best wishes...my heart pains for you xx

are you in the UK? You need to be in the system so it can support you as you are her lifeline. I phoned Cahmns but they told us they couldn't help (as our GP wouldn't) so they said we should take our dd13 to A&E. Once there she was admitted and kept there for a week, a team was instantly built up around our family and we are getting so much help - not just for her eating disorder but also for the health problems which caused it. It's still uphill but we now stand a chance.  Go to A&E.
