I don't know what to do now...

I was discharged from my home treatment team last week after seeing them for 3 weeks, I had a mental health assesment and my bmi is 17, my name was put on the waiting list for a bed at a ED unit but because my bmi isn't under 16.5 they can't force me to go so it's my choice. I don't know where to turn to next my GP is away untill mid april, my CBT therapist and my CPN said they could no longer see me due to be being referred to secondary services but they haven't made another appointment for a follow up and I have heard nothing from the eating disorder nurse,, I feel so lost and alone now:( xxx

Hi,

Yes I think I can understand your feelings of being left without support however there are a couple of things you could do. There are helplines at both Anorexia Bulimia Care and B-eat which would be able to offer someone to talk with whilst you are waiting for your ED appointment.

Have you been given a crisis number to call in your area if you need some support over the holiday weekend and at nights? There is also the Samaritans who are available 24 hours a day.

Another thing you could try is to get hold of some books. There are loads written by people who have suffered an ED. There are also self-help books both aimed at ED and/or other mental health conditions. Anorexia Bulimia Care do have some booklets too.

I know it is a difficult time when one team finishes with you before the next team takes you on but hang on in there. Try to find something to do that you enjoy or try something new e.g. art or craftwork.

with my thoughts and prayers
