Hi courtneydawnx :) While you are in this frame of mind, go to your GP and request a referral to a psychologist or physciatrist who specializes in body image. You are important, you do matter (I bet your legs aren't that bad!!) good luck with getting help, do it now...

Thank you..

Hi courtneydawnx,

It is good that you have recognised how you are feeling and the effect that has on your behaviour after eating. You are at risk of harming yourself if you carry on as you are. It won't make you happy either - it is, in the end, a bitter experience.

I used to feel the same way about my legs too but I hate myself even more now that I am thin.

Please find someone to talk with, your GP should be a good first step. You don't indicate how old you are but if you are still in school or college then there should be someone who has training in counselling. There are also helplines and internet resources (only go to those who promote recovery.

It may help to identify things you want to do or achieve that aren't body image related.

I wish you all the best - do come back and tell us how you are getting on

I'm sorry your GP was not very helpful.

I'm also sorry to hear that you are struggling with your feelings over the food/body image issue. Have you tried jotting your feelings down - in any of this there are a mix of emotions e.g. "what do I get out of this" and the important opposite "what is feelings like this not helping me?". Writing these down can help.

There are also helplines e.g. see the sufferer's helpline on the Anorexia Bulimia Care or b-eat. Both organisation as well as the somethingfishy website have booklets and information you may find helpful.

I think I can identify how wretched you are feeling. But it is important to try to nip this in the bud. I wish with all my heart that I didn't take action earlier.

Is this any help or is there something else you are looking for. You aren't alone so please feel that there are others going through similar feelings as youreself

Hi

How about doing a bit of research to find healthy types and amounts of food to eat? Being sick after meals and/or snacks will lead to physical and mental damage. I think there are some useful guides under the NHS choices website or the latest BBC right diet (bb.co.uk/rightdiet). There must be other good sources too.

The idea is to eat well enough to maintain a healthy weight and that you do something that you like.

Maybe just cut down on any sugary foods/drinks and REPLACE with fruit (whole fruits not juices) and veg/salads.

Whatever you do, don't go to extremes. IT IS NOT WORTH IT. I wish I'd stayed at a healthy weight (see info on BMIs) with legs I was bothered about. My body has been wrecked permanently because of an eating disorder. Being slim with an eating disorder does NOT make me happy, quite the opposite.

does this help?
