Period,pls come back..

Hi.I'm 16 and was anorexic for the past 6 months...I was aware of it and I drastically lost a lot of weight ( 10kg). But lately I realized that I really went too far in my diet and I'm really worried because I've lost my period and hair at the same time. I wanted to recover and I started eating normal and increase my daily calories.I wanted to ask whether its possible that I can gain back my period and how long will it take? Please reply I feel so desperate right now :(

Hi 0713 :) Good girl eating properly :) Listen, I'm not a Doctor - but of course it will come back, if you keep eating and exercise in balance! You have given yourself a massive fright, one day you will look back on this and see it as a blessing (wake up call). 0713 please take yourself off to your GP and have them look into this, better to have looked at all possibilities. While you are there tell them about your recent weightloss, you might need a referral to a dietician - good luck and don't stress ok!

Thank you for your advice. I'm trying to fight all my negative thoughts and get back on the right diet track. It is really a blessing to have your support and encouragement and I feel fortunate to be one of this community which is so positive and helpful to me. I'm anticipating for the day of my period to come :)

Hi,

I'm really glad that you have taken the wake up call to heart. It is very good that you are determined to eat normally.

I would pop down to your GP to ask about your periods and hair loss. Not that there is likely to be anything wrong which a healthy diet with enough calories will put right. You've have given your body a massive shock and it will take a while to recover. Be patient and carry on eating enough to get to a healthy weight.

all the best

Hi anniephys. Thank you for your opinion and advice :) yes I'm starting to eat enough and normal everyday although my stomach bloated so much for the first few days. However I felt really thankful that I've stopped digging my own grave and gained the joy of eating again. I'm also really happy and grateful that you care for me and willing to share your tips with me.I will continue fighting till the end,I promise.:)
