I have posted this sort of stuff in the past. Obvious benefits for the likes of us.

Paralysed man walks using device that reconnects brain with muscles

This man broke his neck. Obviously paralysed him from the neck down. This brain-spine interface takes his brain waves and then transfers them to electrodes implanted further down his spine.

This technology is really moving now. A lot of Silicon Valley money is poring into medicine right now. Obviously, they aren't doing it for the benefit of mankind, but this kind of technology is bound to become cheaper/miniturised, et al. And likely way before any decent medicine comes on stream for us.

Here is the news article:

And another one in Nature:

The university has a website:

neurorestore.swiss/

And they have a waiting list if you want to get in line, though I doubt any of us would count as sufficiently disabled enough to warrant entry right now.

neurorestore.swiss/programs...i

Here is another article I posted a while back. This man was paralysed from the waist down:

Whichever way you slice it, a quadriplegic back on two legs again is either a religious intervention or the stuff of science fiction.

Nice work. We are living in interesting times.

Demyelination is much more stronger than the control systems from above. No hope.

There is always hope. I am past the age of 50 now. Still on two legs.

But some of us aren't so lucky. Wheelchair, neuropathic pain, or even just plain old pain.. And plenty more problems besides.

I haven't given up yet. Nikolahn, I hope for only the best for my brothers and sisters here on amneasier

Be well, my friend.

Good luck. Until the first fall and broken bones. The same story for all of us.

Why are you so negative, Nikolahn? We all have different challenges, but we are HERE! Blessings, my friend.

I fall over a lot. I learned how to fall quickly. brush it off. Part of my daily existence is carefully watching where I put my feet. Getting older, have to watch it, you never know.

I know 70 year old women who practice ballet. Fully able bodied, of course, but it's a dangerous game.

Incidentally, I got a 70 year old friend that has mesothelioma. That's asbestos cancer. It's a one way ticket. Doctor gave him 6 months to live. That was 2 years ago. He lives every single day like it is his last. Proper boozing, he is traveling all over. New York, Malta, Thailand, casinos, the lot. No time for misery, he is just enjoying life to the max.

In comparison, our disease doesn't stack up to his at all.

Cheers, 3WheelWonder. I'll send you a PM over the weekend, we can do that thing we talked about.
