Have any of us found anything better than Modafinil for fatigue?

Do you take any supplements?

Not really. What supplements are you taking?

Try magnesium (at least 400g/ day) and vitamin D (at least 5000-10,000 IU a day) depending on where you’re located in the world and how much you get outside.

I'd have to vote for Armodafinil. Feels very different to Modafinil as far as I'm concerned. I took Methylphenidate one time. Proper stimulant, though best of luck getting prescribed it. It's cheap though.

Seifert, I suffer from pretty severe fatigue. I wake up every morning feeling like death. I don't start to feel "human" until I've been up for three hours or so. I've taken Modafinil, and I didn't notice enough of a difference to continue it. I tried Amantadine (some with MS have had good results with it for fatigue), but it was useless. Even methylphenidate didn't have great results for me - and I wasn't eager to continue taking a proper stimulant that barely gave me any more energy or mental alertness.

Monkeybus, I'd be interested to hear more about the differences between Modafinil and Armodafinil. Could you please enlighten us? How do they feel different? Are doctors more likely to prescribe the former than the latter?

I don't mean to sound like a downer, but I've pretty much come to accept the fact that I will probably struggle with fatigue for the rest of my life. It's been well-documented that both AMN and Addison's cause fatigue, so for those of us who have both, this is a tough reality. I try to make the most of the times when I do have a little more energy. I also make it a point to not beat myself up for dealing with the effects of these diseases that I did not choose to have!

Thanks for your feedback Aaron! I have success with the modfinil most days, but there are the days when it just doesn’t kick in as much. Then throw in high stress day and bam my depression really kicks in. I’ve also had some success with getting my testosterone levels back up. Three months ago my endocrinologist ran some tests and found that I had very low testosterone levels. Now every Monday I get a shot in my bum. I do notice that it helps. All that being said! Stay strong brother!

Aaron98 , it's a good question. Not sure if I can properly answer, but here we go.

Modafinil is intended for narcolepsy, isn't it? I'm not sure if it is properly effective for this. But fatigue, I will go up against anyone for CNS fatigue. It is no joke.

On Modafini, it is like the fatigue is always there, lurking in the background. I can take Modafinil and function reasonably well in the world, but if I stop and sit alone then I can feel the fatigue looming over me.

Armodafinil feels much cleaner, more clinical. Lower dose as well. I feel like 90% wide awake, as opposed to Modafinil's 80%. That make any sense? And I cannot feel the fatigue lingering away in the background.

As for getting it prescribed? I don't know, I have never asked for it. I buy it online.

Takes my about an hour to get moving in the morning, that's about how long before the Modafinil takes to kick in. Sometimes I challenge myself and wait till lunchtime. Hell on earth. I don't do that too much.
