Had the results of my latest MRI today.

I didn't even know what a Loes score is.

0.5/34, that's me.

How about you lot?

What do these numbers mean?

From Google :

"The gold-standard scoring system to evaluate the evolvement of X-ALD was proposed by Loes in 1994(5): a 34-point severity scale for brain MRI findings, based on the location and extent of involvement, and on the presence of either focal or global atrophy."

I presume my 0.5 is good.

No point guessing what the numbers mean. Ask your consultant. I've never heard these numbers and they have never been said to me when I've had an MRI.

For what it's worth, it seems the original paper describing the approach was in 1994!

I think it's means your cognitive functioning! You'll need to be below a certain number to be offered a BMT

Loes is a measure of myelin degeneration. Generally a score of <9 indicates suitability for a BMT in asymptomatic boys with ALD.

My periodic MRI results in "Nothing Remarkable". I take that as good news despite being slightly insulted. :)
