ALD - FREE babies?

Hi guys,

I plan on seeing a genetic counsellor soon to determine my plan of action to have babies one day. I am a carrier of ALD, and OBVIOUSLY do not want to pass that on. Has anyone had successful IVF treatment that resulted in ALD - FREE babies?

Hi, I am a believed mum who lives in South Wales, UK. My daughter is also a carrier and about to undergo PGD in Guys Hospital, London. I am Sure there will be somewhere in South Africa that also does this but understand your anxiety. There have been baby's born to mothers using this method and I am sure your genetic counsellor will know all about it. Wishing you luck in this.

Hi, I am a carrier of ALD and just joined this group. I underwent IVF in order to have ALD free babies and have two healthy children free of this crippling disease, they are 10 and 6. I do hope you've been able to speak to someone or commenced your journey to have ALD free babies. 50% of my embryo's had the disease, exactly as the medical research states.
