Vibration Plates/Bone Health

MariedeMontfort profile image

I have heard a bit about Vibration Plates as an adjunct to increase bone density; however, besides the cost, I have no idea with ones are good and reliable with breaking after 6 months. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Yes! After being newly diagnosed myself, I read about WBV, and decided the benefits would be worth the investment. Besides possibly building back bone, it's great for circulation, inflammation, lymphatic drainage, etc. I just purchased a LifePro Rumblex 4D, vibration plate. I purchased through Amazon, but you can also purchase directly through LifePro. Their equipment comes with a lifetime warranty! Supposedly, if there is ever a problem with the equipment, they will repair or replace it. When I unpacked the equipment, this guarantee was right there on paper! Time will tell when it comes to customer service, but so far, they have been very helpful! They link you with their trainers, and you can access an abundance of videos! I can tell you I LOVE this machine. We have a gym room at home, and it has quickly become my new favorite piece! Even my better half is loving it! I do hand weights while I am on the machine, and get a really good 10 min workout, all while, hopefully, helping my bones! Hope this helps! Good luck!

Hi. Thanks for responding. i've done a little research also and it seems as though the consensus is the WBV is not optimal for osteoporosis but LIV (Low Intensity Vibration) is better. The trouble with some of the whole body vibration plates is that people are not aware of fact that there may be adverse effects if the vibration is too high. People have gotten detached retinas etc. And to get the full result, you shouldn't bend your knees, but when using a WBV, you really need to bend the knees just to get relief because it's more difficult to withstand when the vibration is higher. That's my assessment from all the reading I've done recently but I may be wrong if you love yours. I personally I would be a bit leary. The fact that is has a lifetime warranty is a wonderful thing. I wish all of them had that.

I don't recall the study I read about WBV, but if I come across it again, I will post you the link.

I just bought a Vibration Therapeutics VT007. Excellent low intensity machine. I've used it once for 10 minutes standing, knees bent, and again sitting (for lumbar) for 3 minutes. I came away with a bit of nausea and imbalance. My wife did the same with no issues.

So, the little bit of research I have done suggests that for osteoporosis, you need to get a LIV-low intensity vibration plate, not a WBV-whole body vibration plate. They are considerably more expensive-thousands of dollars, not hundreds.

My research into this is the same as ORdogmom, that is, that an LIV plate is recommended over WBV. If you search through past posts on this site, there was an entire discussion on the vibration plates about 30 days ago. I haven't invested in one, but am curious about them too.

A friend had great luck with WBV (30 hz is best) and Algecal suppliment with improving her density.

Yes, well the the 30Hz is the best but that's the lowest vibration. Many of the WBV have many different settings when in actuality all you need is 30 Hz which is approximately .4g. But there aren't too many affordable good options out there for low intensity vibration plates. It seems as though you need to get the WBV one and then just put it at the lowest setting.

My WBV unit varies from 4 to 40 hz. Got it new off Amazon. Rumblex Plus 4D Vibration Plate was around $200 on a black Friday deal.

I'm leaning towards getting the one that you bought myself. I just want to look at a few others before I take the plunge. Thanks.
