Bone health and fractures during pregnancy

Hello everyone, I want to know from real-life examples whether any one of you has had fractures or osteopenia/osteoporosis state worsening while pregnant. To tell the truth I am between a rock and a hard place, whether to have a second child. My osteopenia was caused because of my 1st pregnancy, because of gastritis and lactose intolerance I was not able to take most of my vitamins during the pregnancy, and since most of the medications and pain-killers are prohibited while pregnancy my doctor opted not to prescribe any vitamins during the pregnancy since my gastritis was worsening, hence the baby took away all my calcium from my bones, and since then I've had osteopenia. Long story short, osteopenia problems are not examined too closely in the country where I live, unfortunately. Usually, when you come up with questions in my country about whether to give birth to a child with health conditions or not, the answer is yes. But I'd rather be healthy and with one child than with a fractured spine and with a second child. So I'd appreciate any life example and if there are specialists, I'd appreciate your professional advice, too.

I don't have advice for you as I am new here, but think you are wise to consider the real possibilities with your condition. Good for you that you are thinking the pros and cons through.

If it were me, I would opt not to have additional children. It seems to me that what occurred with your first pregnancy would likely again resulting in much worse condition. Then you have osteo from menopause still to possibly be an issue. It seems you acquired osteo at a very young age. I would recommend focusing on improving your bone health now via diet and exercise with great focus. I had early onset menopause that caused my osteo. It went from osteopenia to full blown in under 2 years. I would recommend you focus on keeping your condition at osteopenia for as long as possible with your age being too young for this conditon.

Thank you for your reply Hidden , this is what I am very much afraid of. Yes I was diagnosed with osteopenia at 31-32 and since then I have been trying to do everything possible to stop it from becoming worse, the situation is stable, didn't become either worse or better. I am now 37 and my AMH levels are very low, so my gyn said that there will be an early menopause, too. He said either to hurry to carry a second child or wait for the menopause.

it’s awful so young you need to make a decision that usually much older folks have to deal with. I have osteoporosis found out after first compression fracture of spine. That fracture changed my life what I can and can’t do or risk another fracture. Also cannot lift grand babies

Walk w a cane with a hunched back. Lots of pain until it heals 2-3 months later.

Now 1-26-23 was doing floors being very slow and cautious. Oops missed a spot decision 1 second turned to get spot 1 second. Felt sharp pain . Hoping I would get away with it but no

Lots of pain life stops rest, pain med until it heals and then normal which keeps changing to less and less.

Tough decision to have one beautiful child or more. I would say keep your health and enjoy many activities with you beautiful child rather then watching others enjoy playing with your child.

I would see a professional to go over everything you must deal with questions people ask, did you want more children? All those dumb thoughtless questions. Best to you!!!

Thank you for your reply, I am sorry for what you are experiencing with this condition which we have. I would like to have a second child, but not on the cost of my health, our family is a traditional family, they wouldn't and won't understand me, so I have to make a decision.
