Questions for Prolia Uses

Please update how you do with the Prolia injection. My doctor just recommended Reclast or Prolia. I have been doing reading on the side effects of both meds and it is scary. I am probably going to opt out on the recommended meds for now. It helps to hear how others are doing on these meds. Good luck to you with your injection.

I was also recently told I have osteoporosis after I had a compression fracture of spine. I did not fall this has changed my life. Walking is still difficult the fracture occurred 10-2021. It is a tough question especially if you are at high risk for a fracture or second fracture. I was thinking from choices given to do reclast once a year. After reading possible side effects I now are looking at other choices. Rock and a hard place. Don’t want another fracture recovery is long and mobility lacking. Yet I do not want a ton of side effects I am already in pain. Appreciate any thoughts of drug with least side effects. TY

I have had 6 Prolia injections so far and no reaction at all. The list of side effects are scary, but after 9 vertebral fractures which were life altering and debilitating, I was willing to take anything to avoid more. My recent Dexascan showed improvement. My best to you, Ann

how often do you get shots of Prolia. Can’t imagine multiple fractures. I have difficulty getting around after first incident. It has changed my life and activities I loved. Can you walk without a cane? Did you have follow X-rays to see if fractures healed. Sorry about questions if to intrusive ignore me ☺️. I actually do best with walker with seat. I can take breaks don’t have to worry about height of chairs. I am 73 I don’t use walker around people I know. Use a cane. Walker hurts my dang ego but I can walk more. My osteoporosis age definitely but also drugs used for breast cancer. Also oral pills have IBS so that did not go well. Thanks again yes I know I need to make a decision soon.

I get Prolia shots every 6 months. It’s been a long road. Couldn’t drive for six months.Had vertebroplasty. Don’t know if if helped or not. I walk slowly and carefully, afraid of a fall. Still can’t walk far. I’ve been able to avoid a cane but I’m sure that or a walker is in my future. I’m 83, have osteoarthritis and PMR. This summer I was finally able to get to the pool. I walk in the shallow end. All my fractures were thoracic and have wondered if those with lumbar have an even more difficult time. Am on gabapentin for pain. Feel free to ask anything you want.
