Memory Improvement after a fall

My uncle now aged 92 had a stroke 4 years ago. After a couple of years his symptoms were diagnosed as vascular dementia. Early this year his speech (finding the right words) and memory had deteriorated.

Three weeks ago he was found on the floor and it was immediately apparent that his speech and memory had been restored. He could converse, recall and even work the remote control again.

Unfortunately over the next week he slipped back to his previous condition. Then 8 days after his first 'fall' he was found on the floor again and once more he was able to recall and speak/discuss things with clarity.

Unfortunately the deterioration happened again and he is now back to a state of not being able to communicate.

Anyone have any experience of this and what could be going on, or if there could be anything to restore him again?

Welcome to the community. You mention that your uncle was "found on the floor". Do you know whether he fell due to physical problems, or perhaps passed out?

Afraid thats impossible to know since he can not remember these incidents in any detail- he says he 'just went'

A non-medical conjecture - whatever happens right before he's "found on the floor" is restorative for a short while. Could be a mild syncope that "resets" his brain for a few days.

Yes - My own feeling was that the falls improved the blood flow in the brain temporarily. If only there was a permanent way of replicating the effect.
