When I was in 10th grade, around may/June a friend of mine noticed a bald patch at the back of my head.

I didn't really think much of it and left it alone. I then started to develop more patches all over my head. This started to progress more until I had lost over 50% of my hair. I started to wear a hat and took treatment prescribed by my doctor. I wore the hat everywhere I went, school, days out etc... I wore the hat for about a year, but not at home of course. It was the following June and the summer holidays were approaching, when the holidays started I removed my hat and stayed at home. I then noticed my hair gradually growing and over the course of the summer holiday I had almost a full set of hair. There was only one patch remaining which I was able to cover with my hair as it had grown pretty long now. I then walked outside without a hat and a few weeks later all my hair had grown back. I believe it's because I just let my hair just breathe and be free after a year under a hat. So if you wear a hat a lot and have alopecia I suggest to let your hair get as much fresh air as possible as this helps stimulate your hair growth. I suffered for just more than a year and felt pretty embarrassed and was bullied because of it at times. If you need to talk in more detail about it please feel free to email me: jakey0907@hotmail.co.uk
