Both sons had a cold last week and Monday Sam went down fast and didn't get up for two days. Last night I had a shivery spell and despite not feeling too bad I did a covid test this lunchtime.
You got it. It took 15 mins to change to positive but when I tested Sam it was instant so Emm (nurse side kick of no 2 son) says she is well into it and me only just started, Deep joy. .Had my 5th booster on Monday afternoon as well. At least I wore my mask when I went shopping early this morning. There is a lot of it about!
Bob (AKA sniffy).

Drat, what a hassle to say the least. Sorry you have all coped for this and especially after your booster shot early this week. Typical of lifes curved balls. Hope you both feel better quickly.
So much going around now. Booster may well alleviate symptoms but no jab will stop covid as you’ve found out unfortunately. Get well soon and hoping you all make a good recovery.
so sorry to hear this Bob! Yes it’s everywhere… my 90 year old mother just had it… and my sister … my mother did better than my sister… so it’s an individual thing. My heart rate would be affected as well I think…
Still waiting for ablation here.. could be a year… feeling ok now so not rushing if…
I hope you are one of the “it’s just a cold” sufferers …. Keep us posted and take care of yourself! Chicken soup is a great cure!!!
Sorry to side post noticed it could be a year for ablation! Is it with GA? Are you on the list? And have you rang the admissions dept to get a better idea?
I can frequently be seen quietly, and not so quietly, raging over peoples casualness in public places(no masks) because THEY are SURE Covid has gone away. It certainly has not!!Just had my booster jab and could not get it fast enough.
Sorry, i don't mean this to come across as offensive, but there is no requirement to wear a mask, so if you raged at me for not wearing one.. Well tough luck. I'd certainly give you a run for your money! Why would you be angry at someone's individual choice? Has anyone ever raged at you for being stupid enough to wear one? ! If they were so wonderful, then why did no one wear them before for existing viruses which have been known to kill far more people than covid? Pathetic
Same thing happened to me - husband tested positive on Monday and me today ! Inevitable o guess even though jad escaped this far . Ironic that had my fifth vaccine a week ago - too soon to be effective ! GP
Doesn’t seem to know if AF and heart valve defect means I should have antivirals
Really sorry to hear this… not fair! Booster on Monday didn’t have time to produce a lot of antibodies but hopefully it kickstarted you to recovery. Surprised how many of you are getting this as I read the comments. Darn!!
Oh what a b****r. Hope you feel better soon. I had it (mildly) at Easter and thought I had escaped it as been careful, did as I was told etc but it happened. It’s made me think I will take a test as haven’t felt too good for couple of days and never gave covid a thought. x
Get well soon! I went down with it Friday/Saturday, a couple of weeks before my booster was due. So far I’m not too bad, crossing fingers it continues that way. Though today I’ve lost my sense of smell, as did my husband. Seemed odd as I thought the recent strains didn’t do that.
Everyone who has avoided it up to now suddenly seems to be getting it. I think I took my eye off the ball on a family holiday in the Lakes.
I think that people mixing such a lot with ER11 and the crowds is having repercussions. As you say such a lot about. I must admit I am terrified of it. Hope you both get over it quickly
Paul is a bit unwell. Mikey has gone to the Unit to do a welding job and Sam is a little better this morning. I know that because she is ordering me about now amd keeps stuffing a thermometer in my mouth. lol 😁 I'd be better if I didn't have this crushing headache.
So very sorry to hear both you and Jean Jeanie are unwell at the moment. Wishing you both speedy recoveries. Thank you for all your advice and kind words over the years xx
So sorry to read this Bob. Hope you don't have it too badly and you and Sam recover soon. Everyone has stopped wearing masks. I was the only one in the supermarket wearing one yesterday.
Get well soon. I am astonished at the number of people on this site who are reporting they have just had covid! I knew it was increasing again, but I expect that we multi vaccined people are just the tip of the iceberg! I had my 4th jab yesterday.
Rife here - amazing that I was hugged by someone who I found out later tested positive the following day and didn’t come down with it. Going for our 5th jab tomorrow.
Evidently the new variants know how to evade our immune response - seems they are much cleverer than our brilliant scientists……..
On the other hand it seems to have mutated to a less violent strain than the ones 2 years ago or maybe it is because the population has had a number of jabs or had a bout already.
What! Two of our stalwarts down with covid! You and Jean. So sorry to hear this - pray and hope you have a quick recovery and no other complications ❤️
It's increasing round here, too, yes, even in sunny Leicestershire. I hope you are over it, soon, Bob, and that it doesn't last long. That's the experiences we've been hearing from others who've had it recently - symptoms for about a week.
We had our covid booster yesterday alongside our flu vaccination. We weren't expecting to be given it as we had only just received the text invitation and hadn't booked it, but our GP offered so we thought, well in for a penny and all that. Both arms aching this morning.
I tested positive for Covid 19 as well. It elevated my heart rate to 98 while resting. My doctor prescribed Pavilovid which was a miracle drug for me. After 5 days most of the symptoms went away. Hope you get well soon Bob.
Poor you Bob ! So sorry to hear it ‘gotcha’ ! I hope you recover very quickly - and on a selfish note 😉, we can’t cope here with you AND Jeannie unavailable for words of wisdom !The rest of us will just have to manage with two of the Main Support Team down ! 😱 All the best.
Sorry to hear you and your family have caught the dreaded bug. ZOE havs been saying its in the rise. Wife and I have been up to NDDH twice this week and were the only folks wearig a mask so people seem to have forgotten thd lessons from 2020 .
awe, hope it doesn’t last too long, it’s very much still around isn’t it, I’m up a mountain, it’s still whirling around up here, wish you well soon Bob
Yes I have been on it 5 years.Dont really want to hijack this post so wont say much.In persistent AF for 19 months but HRate ok.Rythm not.Glad you are doing ok.
Ahh for crying out loud not you too Bob. Mind yourself and I hope you recover fast and smoothly. By the way the 1st watch I bought for my now hubby back in '69 from my pt time job was an alfa romeo.😄
