Does anyone have a problem with herbal tea and Apixaban? I've just read that chamomile and peppermint tea are not recommended!?

Just do your research and be careful. There was a case about a year ago of a man drinking ginger and I think cinnamon tea in large quantities and it turned out very badly for him, poor soul. Some herbs such as ginger can enhance the effectiveness of anti-coagulants.

You might find this link helpful, even though most articles refer to Warfarin. When I started Apixaban, the only thing I was told to avoid was St John's Wort.

Have you tried Matcha? Its a pure powdered green tea, not the crap you get in Tesco, this is tea ceremony tea. Its lovely and has never given me AF. Unlike coffee and regular tea of I drink too much.

Hi, is Matcha high in caffeine? I would like to drink green tea but gave up ordinary tea a while ago and am on decaff now.

I think it also affects blood pressure my mom takes natural things for her high bp high cholesterol and diabetes like cinnamon and matcha tea and other things ginger etc. I think they all help lower bp naturally so anything which does so naturally might in theory impact a drug. She never took her abaxipan but I remember reading don't have grapefruit was the only thing it said on the packet. She did take amplodapine for a while and I think that also said don't have grapefruit. Any of the natural things that do the same job as the drug I'd say could increase or interfere with the effect. That's how effective the natural remedies are!! Liqorice red yeast rice natto cayene a whole lot of things can interact with drugs for blood etc. I think better check each thing individually rather than expect them to write the entire list on the warning label.

I think with anything , moderation is best. I drink all kinds of herbal teas and no problems.Just had my check up blood tests for Apixaban and all is well.

There was a case of a man who made his own, very potent, ginger and turmeric ( or cinnamon?) Tea and drank lots of it..every day.He died of internal bleeding sadly.

I have Ginger & Lemon, Peppermint too but most times I drink Raspberry and Cranberry and other fruit teas, which are really refreshing. I must say I haven’t found any problems. I also burn various oils in my little oil burner, which include peppermint, bergamot etc, and haven’t been affected.
